Self-Archiving Policy

Innovation Press is dedicated to fostering open access and supporting authors in complying with funders' self-archiving mandates. Our policies are designed to facilitate the dissemination of research while maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

Preprints

Innovation Press encourages authors to share preprints of primary research manuscripts on preprint servers, personal or institutional websites, and other open platforms. A preprint is defined as the author’s version of a research manuscript prior to formal peer review, deposited on a public server. Preprint posting is not considered prior publication and will not impact the editorial evaluation of the manuscript at Innovation Press journals. Preprints will not influence the assessment of a study’s novelty or significance during the review process.

Preprint Disclosure, Licensing, and Citation

Authors must disclose preprint postings, including the DOI and licensing terms, upon manuscript submission or at any stage during the review process. Upon publication, authors are responsible for updating the preprint record with the publication reference, including the DOI and a link to the published article on the journal's website.

Authors may apply any license to their preprint, including Creative Commons (CC) licenses. The choice of license will determine how the preprint can be shared and reused.

Preprints may be cited in reference lists of articles under consideration at Innovation Press journals. Example citation format:

Babichev S. A., Ries J. and Lvovsky A. I. Quantum scissors: Teleportation of single-mode optical states by means of a nonlocal single photon. Preprint at http://arxiv.org/abs/quant-ph/0208066(2002).

Media Communication

Authors sharing preprints are advised to adhere to our media communication policy. While researchers may respond to media inquiries regarding preprints, they should clarify that the findings are provisional and subject to change following peer review. Media coverage of preprints will not affect editorial decisions but may influence subsequent media interest upon formal publication.

Self-archiving of Subscription-based Articles

For articles accepted under the subscription route, authors may self-archive the Author's Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in personal websites, institutional repositories, or funder repositories. Public release of the AAM is permitted six months after the official publication date. Authors must include the publication reference, DOI, and a link to the published article on the journal's website on the first page of the deposited version.

For articles published online ahead of print (advanced online publication, or AOP), the self-archived version may be made publicly available six months after the online publication date.

Note: The AAM may not be distributed under a Creative Commons license. For further details, please refer to our open access policies page. Terms of use for Innovation Press's accepted manuscripts are available at: https://www.the-innovation.org/innovation-press/policies/copyright/.

Self-archiving of Open Access Articles

For articles published under a Creative Commons license, authors are encouraged to deposit the Version of Record (VoR) immediately upon publication in their chosen repository, along with a link to the article on the journal's website.

In all cases, linking to the journal's website ensures the integrity and authenticity of the scientific record, with the VoR identified as the definitive version.

Long-term Digital Preservation

To ensure long-term digital preservation, all published articles will be archived on the CLOCKSS platform. Authors are also encouraged to deposit their articles in PubMed Central/Europe PMC, and other appropriate archives. It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that any Institutional or funders' requirements for archiving are met.
